Description

Ma'anshan is a heavy industry city dominated by the iron and steel industry. More than 80% of freight transportation enterprises in the road freight logistics industry come from the logistics and distribution of bulk materials related to steel manufacturing of Baowu Masteel Group, and the supporting logistics transportation equipment is mainly heavy-duty trucks. Before 2021, logistics and distribution equipment were all diesel-powered heavy-duty trucks, which accounted for 54% of the carbon emissions of road transportation in Ma'anshan City.

In view of this, in order to promote the transformation of logistics methods, Ma'anshan City is focusing on promoting the implementation of practical application projects of green logistics equipment, uses new energy battery-swapping heavy-duty trucks, fully-enclosed dump tractor-semitrailer, and fully-enclosed dump containers for short-distance transportation of the “road-to-rail” and “road-to-water” transportation processes, and gradually reduces the proportion of heavy-duty diesel trucks in the transportation of bulk materials to truly achieve green logistics and low-carbon operation.

In 2022, Ma'anshan Intermodal Transport Group actively responded to the requirements of Baowu Masteel Group to create an A-level environmental performance enterprise and develop green freight transportation in the transportation industry. It invested more than 33 millionyuan to purchase 43 battery-swapping new energy electric vehicles to replace diesel powered tractors, which were put into the production and distribution of each production line of Baowu Masteel. Ma'anshan Intermodal Transport Group carries out product docking with the China-Europe freight train and the road, rail and water intermodal container business along the Belt and Road, mainly uses new energy trucks and environment-friendly trucks to achieve green, low-carbon, energy saving and emission reduction effects.

Key data

In the past two years, Ma'anshan City has gradually eliminated 71 old freight vehicles with high energy consumption and substandard exhaust emissions, and invested 45 millionyuan to purchase 71 new energy heavy-duty trucks and green energy-saving environmental protection freight vehicles (including 43 new energy battery-swapping heavy-duty trucks and 28 China VI energy-saving and environmentally friendly heavy-duty trucks) for the short-distance logistics distribution of steel products and raw materials and auxiliary materials of Bawu Masteel Group. The average annual operating income of the main logistics industry has always been maintained at about 97 millionyuan, and the average annual freight volume is about 12 million tons.

With the green logistics equipment, the total annual fuel saving is 233,000 liters, and carbon dioxide emissions are reduced by 632 tons.

Status quo/Progress

From 2023 to 2025, with the construction of new logistics stations, environmentally friendly new materials, photovoltaic power generation, battery swapping and charging stations, intelligent warehouse and distribution management systems, and network freight platforms will be implanted to promote and expand the application scenarios and scope of new energy battery swapping heavy-duty trucks.

Innovation point

The practical application of green transportation was explored, and the multimodal transport operation mode was adopted to reduce the distance and energy consumption of automobile transportation in the transportation link, and made great efforts to change the status quo of high energy consumption and high emission of enterprises.
