Abstract

As an important driving force for urban sustainable development, bicycles play an important role in the sustainability of the environment and the improvement of people’s living standards. To encourage the use of bicycles in modern cities, it becomes especially important to consider them in urban design and planning. Some cities in China are trying to build high-standard bicycle lanes, yet the relevant technical indicators are to be perfected. It is urgent to carry out related research and design to perfect the design standards of bicycle lanes and improve the comfort level and safety of riding through the design of vertical slopes.

The paper is a report on the study of the vertical slope of elevated bicycle lanes in cities. Through the research and analysis, the paper puts forward corresponding indicators for the vertical slope of the elevated bicycle lanes and a more perfect recommended value for the vertical slope of the elevated bicycle lanes. Meanwhile, the indicators can also be used as a supplement to the existing norms to guide the design of urban bicycle lanes in general.

The final results of the report show that the suggested value of the maximum vertical slope of the entrance ramp of urban elevated bicycle lanes is 9.27%, which provides a basis for further development of the bicycle industry. Related research on the indicators will promote the innovation of bicycle lanes, which have great potential for alleviating traffic pressure and even enhancing the charm of the city.
