Abstract | Chongqing, Beijing, Shanghai, and other cities have released new policies to support the commercialization of unmanned vehicles in pilot cities. Baidu has made breakthroughs and developed rapidly in the field of fully autonomous driving. With the continuous upgrading of models, the use of multiple intelligent technologies, and the scheduling and efficient allocation of resources, Baidu is committed to improving the travel experience of passengers, with guarantees for their safe and fast arrival at destinations. From the first generation of BMW 3 in 2013 to the sixth generation of Apollo RT6 in 2022, Baidu has achieved iterative updates of models from manned to unmanned autonomous driving, with significant improvements in unmanned capability. In terms of intelligent technology, Baidu has applied multiple technologies in autonomous driving such as intelligent positioning with secret signals, quick response with one click for safety, and automatic detection based on seat pressure. In terms of scheduling and efficient allocation of resources, Baidu's autonomous driving technology intelligently monitors the supply and demand status of each city via the intelligent management platform to schedule vehicles in a timely manner. In 2022, the “Carrot Run” realized the doubled number of users with its advantages in price and usage, becoming the first choice for customers during morning and evening rush hours. In 2022, the number of active users of Carrot Run increased by 1.99 times compared with that of 2021, and the number of active users during morning and evening rush hours also reached the peak of data statistics in different time periods. Baidu’s autonomous driving technology has been praised and recommended by experts and media in the field at home and abroad, with its influence and scale of use gradually expanding in Wuhan and other cities and developing towards the goal of “globalization” in the future. |
