On August 27, 2019, "Taxi Smart Code" was officially launched in Xi'an, indicating that taxis hailing enters the new era of Internet experience. Over the past two years, Xi'an Taxi Administrative Office, worked with Dida Chuxing, to stick in deepening the cruise taxi industry, constantly optimize products and provide better services, which has brought tangible changes to the taxi industry in Xi'an.

Passengers can scan the “Taxi Smart Code” to enter the destination, and choose to send the driving route to the driver's "Dida Driver App". The driver can navigate directly with one button. After getting on the taxi, passenger can scan the QR Code and get a series of services like route navigation, real-time track viewing, trip sharing, bill details, online payment, service evaluation, etc. Xi'an citizens can search for the "Smart Taxi Travel" applet on WeChat, and click to enter the applet. The homepage of the applet will display two sections: "Taxi Assistant" and Online Car Hailing". In the "Taxi Assistant" section, the system will automatically recommend three best taxi-hailing spots nearby. If passenger clicks one of them, the system will show the number of empty taxis that will pass by the taxi-hailing spot within 15 minutes, the license plate number of each taxi, the actual distance from the taxi-hailing spot and the estimated arrival. If there is no empty taxi passing by nearby, the system will recommend other taxi-hailing spots, or the system will enter the "Online Car Hailing" section to make an appointment for a taxi, so as to help the passenger plan travel mode reasonably and avoid wasting time in waiting at road side.

By 2020, 90% of taxi orders in Xi'an have been digitalized by scanning smart codes. The "one-button navigation" function is used 7,800 times a day on average. Since February, the number of smart code scans has exceeded 50 million person times, and the maximum smart code scans per day has exceeded 400,000 person times. Through the evaluation mechanism of "Taxi Smart Code", the taxi industry of Xi'an received more than 24 million service evaluations, up to 190,000 evaluations per day, and each driver received more than 10 evaluations per day.

SITUATION / PROGRESSAfter one year's application in practice, Smart Code has achieved initial results. As of mid-August 2020, the number of Xi'an citizens who made real-name registration via Smart Code has exceeded 6 million, and its effectiveness and sustainability have been verified. The application and promotion of "Taxi Smart Code" is reproducible. Although the taxi industry in different regions faces different problems, there is a certain commonality among the demands of the competent departments, operating enterprises and passengers. "Taxi Smart Code" is a way for cruising taxis to explore "Internet +" and the integration and development of new and old business formats. As long as it is conducive to the development of the industry, drivers and passengers, Taxi Smart Code may be promoted to various cities in the future, allowing the market to develop freely. However, when it develops to a certain scale, it needs actual supervision and normative guidance from the competent departments.

At the end of December, 2020, the Intelligent Taxi Dispatching Management Platform was upgraded and put into use, covering 2,262 taxis and more than 4,000 employees in the main urban area of Weifang. Since 2021, the platform has found more than 80 lost items on taxis for the public, worth of more than 600,000 yuan; in addition, the platform provides the public security organs with more than 50 clues to crack down crimes, with case amount of more than 6 million yuan.

By intelligent means, the original loose cruising taxi management mode is integrated. Through the reform scheme of digitalization, online hailing and online & offline integration, intelligent operation of urban taxi traffic can be achieved just by scanning code, which will improve passenger satisfaction industry efficiency.
