CASE DESCRIPTION

Beijing MTR tries to use intelligent patrol robot instead of manpower to make automatic patrol inspection in substations and other places, so as to realize real-time early warning and intelligent data analysis, improve operation and maintenance level with science and technology and provide high-quality services for passengers to travel safely and smoothly. In the first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan, Beijing MTR will further combine passengers’ demand with scientific and technological innovation, enhance the ability and level of operation and management and increase the reliability and convenience of rail transit operation to help build a smart city.

The intelligent patrol robot will "walk" to the front of each cabinet along the guide rail above the switch cabinet according to the predetermined process, and detect the voltage ammeter, indicator light status, knob position, protection device status, temperature, humidity, noise, infrared temperature and partial discharge of the power supply equipment in the substation, and read the status information every day. The robot can rotate and stretch up and down from multiple angles to ensure the multi-directional coverage of the inspection points, and realize real-time early warning through its intelligent data analysis function to improve the operation level and guarantee the excellent mobility experience of passengers.

The frequency of inspection is changed from one manual inspection per 7 days to one inspection per 3 hours, which can find abnormal equipment earlier and improve their reliability. In addition, the patrol robot can perform more accurate data detection and information reading based on manual visual inspection. In addition, the collected data will be uploaded in real time and an analysis report will be formed for the staff to view the current and historical patrol data at any time.

CURRENT PROGRESS

At the beginning of February, 2021, Beijing MTR piloted the intelligent patrol robot in the Majiapu Vehicle Depot Substation of Line 4, which improved the inspection quality while ensuring the continuous and stable power supply of the substation.

Now the patrol robot is in the trial operation stage. In the future, according to the analysis of various data indicators and accuracy of data recognition through robot’s autonomous learning, we will comprehensively consider whether apply it in a large scale.

INNOVATION POINT

Robots are used for inspection instead of manual inspection to achieve more efficient and more accurate results.
