On October 16, 2020, "Shanghai Parking" App was put into trial operation, with eight service functions, covering more than 4,300 public parking lots (garages), toll road parking lots and 890,000 public parking spaces in Shanghai.

"Shanghai Parking" App has eight service modules, including "Parking Navigation, Parking and Transfer, Hub Parking, Staggering Peak Sharing, Parking Payment, Parking Reservation, Parking Charging and Service Announcement".

For operational parking facilities (including toll road parking lots) of Shanghai, P+R parking facilities and public parking facilities of different natures at Hongqiao Hub, Pudong Airport, Shanghai Railway Station, etc., the "Parking Navigation, Parking and Transfer, Hub Parking" modules provide users with parking lot (garage) addresses, entrance and exit locations, driving routes and road conditions, and the number of real-time empty parking spaces in the garage (total number of parking spaces on the road), pricing and service hours within a certain range around the destination. 

The "Parking Payment" module can support online payment of cross-regional arrears of road parking fees in Shanghai through third-party electronic payment methods such as Alipay and WeChat.

The “Parking Reservation, Staggering Peak Sharing and Parking Charging” modules provide basic data and service information of charging facilities installed in parking sharing projects and some parking lots (garages) that have been opened to surrounding communities.

Among them, the electronic contract function of "Staggering Peak Sharing" model was put into trial operation in June 2021, and it can provide relevant information of open parking resources within certain range according to the real-time positioning information of users. After users select corresponding products and pay for them, bound vehicles can enter or leave the parking lot during the contract period. The address, charging price, service hours and specific requirements are all clearly shown on the App, so users can sign the contract with one click, and need not to communicate with the parking lot, thus saving time and efforts.

The first batch of "Staggering Peak Sharing" electronic contracted projects in trial operation mainly covered 14 districts of Shanghai including Huangpu, Jing'an and Xuhui, with a total of 35 projects and 1,452 parking spaces. This project is signed every month, and is only open to minibus users at present. Venues participating in the project include shopping malls, hotels, hospitals, schools, etc., with prices ranging from 300 yuan to 1200 yuan.

In July, the "Shanghai Parking" App launched the parking reservation service at 8 hospitals. Currently, the "Shanghai Parking" App can reserve parking lots of 10 hospitals, providing a total of 530 reserved parking spaces. At the end of this year, the project plans to expand 100 parking spots in Shanghai, and makes more efforts to promote the spots with greater user demand. By publicizing to, coordinating with and raising by neighborhood committees in Shanghai by means of marketization, the project will meet the actual needs of users and find shared parking spaces for them.

With information technology, the ideas of sharing economy, demand regulation and the method of refined traffic management, the project will remove the "information island" between car owners and parking lots to give full use of the parking resources to the maximum extent.
