CASE DESCRIPTION

Transportation information services (e.g. road condition inquiry and forecast) require abundant real-time operation data as support. Using traditional detector and probe vehicle technology requires relatively big infrastructure investment and is not suitable for Internet-based information service demands.

Currently, the User Generated Content (UGC) data-sharing model is what is adopted by many transportation information service apps. Using the road condition information uploaded by the users, the platform consolidates information from various users. After processing and analyzing the data, the information is then broadcast to other users.

The UGC model has overturned the traditional generation information model that is costly and have low-efficiency. As a result, more enterprises are able to take part in transportation information service, thus enriching service contents of transportation information services and relieving pressure of traffic management department in terms of transportation information service.

Due to the flexibility of information acquisition and release by enterprises, customized information contents and release frequency can be provided to better serve the users’ demands. Furthermore, from the massive data resources collected from users’ experiences, it also allows the services to extend from online only to offline services and thus provide travel ecosphere or travel chain services.
