East Asia Railway Community (EARC) Initiative International Seminar

Hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport of Korea (MOLIT), the East Asia Railway Community Initiative was initiated by President Moon with the overall objective of improving connectivity between Japan, the Korean Peninsula, China, Russia and Mongolia.

The 2019 conference successfully brought together 3000+ experts with various backgrounds of trade policy, regional connectivity, railways, and freight logistics. etc.  Bernard Aritua, Senior Infrastructure Specialist and Martha Lawrence, Senior Infrastructure Specialist, joined the event and made presentations on the World Bank experience in the region.  The conference agreed on an action plan to support better regional integration, and a proposal for World Bank technical assistance to support the establishment of an institutional framework for implementation.
