CASE DESCRIPTION

On June 8, 2017, the General Office of the Ministry of Transport issued the Notice on Announcing the List of Smart Port Demonstration Projects and Related Matters, and identified 13 smart port demonstration projects in 10 provinces (autonomous regions and municipalities).

The Yangtze River Economic Belt Shipping Alliance, composed of nine port groups and five shipping companies, has created a unified information platform, thus realizing the operation integration, the visualization of logistics and the multi-dimensional shipping business. The port and shipping lines connect 14 container terminals along the Yangtze River and the container terminals in Shanghai port. At present, the platform has realized the one-stop container real-time tracking service.

Qinhuangdao Port uses UAVs to scan the bulk stocks, enabling the rapid inventory of stocks in the yard; it utilizes infrared scanning technology to accurately detect the location of the coals that are damp and agglomerated; with sensors, data including PM2.5, wind direction and wind speed can be collected real-time, thus achieving dual goals of dust prevention and better coal quality. In the future, Hebei Port Group Co., Ltd. will accelerate the promotion and application of Beidou satellite navigation system, big data, IoT, mobile Internet, cloud computing and other technologies during its production and operation in port.

Ningbo Zhoushan Port has established a dangerous goods management system. Remote sensing, 3D visualization, and full-space visualization are applied to manage dangerous goods transportation, loading and unloading, storage, etc. in the whole process and entire chain, so that the updates can be tracked and controlled at any time. In addition, the entire information management and control platform should be able to interface with existing information systems of other ports, and improve the safety management level by fully applying scheduled operation and IoT monitoring systems.
