The urban design concept for supporting the building of sustainable urban transport corridor emphasizes the effect of urban design on improving traffic efficiency and sustainable urban development. With the growth of China's urban scale, traffic congestion and inefficiencies emerged, as well as serious environmental pollution problems. On the basis of drawing on experience in the development of many cities around the world, this report shows a series of urban design and planning concept, which provides China with certain reference significance .The first part of this report discusses some urban design concepts and rationale, which include: transit oriented development (TOD); the features of bus priority design and pedestrian oriented development (POD). In the second part, Xining Wusi West Road transit corridor, as an example, shows how the urban design concepts mentioned above applied to reality, and how to achieve the goal of creating a more sustainable urban environment.
